چکیده

The passivity index framework is an alternative method of characterizing energy dissipation in systems. As an analysis tool, it can be used to assess the level of passivity of a system. This opens up a much larger class of systems that can be analyzed using results that are similar to the passivity theorem. Typically indices are considered analytically for systems with an established model. This paper focuses on an experimental method of determining indices from input-output data. Particularly, we consider testing passivity indices for vehicle systems with the adaptive cruise control (ACC) algorithm, and maximizing passivity indices through a numerical optimization method, the Hooke and Jeeve’s method. Simulations on a virtual car platform are given to demonstrate the results.

Passivity Analysis and Passivation of Interconnected Event-Triggered Feedback Systems Using Passivity Indices

In this paper, passivity and passivation problems for event-triggered feedback interconnected systems are addressed. We consider passivity in two event-triggered control schemes based on the location of the event-triggered samplers: sampler at plant output and sampler at controller output. For both schemes, we first derive the conditions to characterize the level of passivity for the interconne...

Application of Graph Theory: Investigation of Relationship Between Boiling Temperatures of Olefins and Topological Indices

Abstract: In this study an appropriate computational approach was presented for estimating the boiling temperatures of 41 different types of olefins and their derivatives. Based on the guidelines of this approach, several structural indices related to the organic components were applied using graph theory. Meanwhile, in addition to evaluating the relation between the boiling temperatures of ole...

Passivity Analysis of Human as a Controller

Human controllers as pilots or drivers can be described by linear time invariant systems cascaded with time delay. Inspired by this, we ‘generalize’ the definition of passivity index to irrational transfer functions and use the passivity index to examine passivity of some existing human models. The results show that the human model is non-passive due to the time delay which represents inherent ...

On relationships among passivity, positive realness, and dissipativity in linear systems

The notions of passivity and positive realness are fundamental concepts in classical control theory, but the use of the terms has varied. For LTI systems, these two concepts capture the same essential property of dynamical systems, that is, a system with this property does not generate its own energy but only stores and dissipates energy supplied by the environment. This paper summarizes the co...
